The Handicrafts Association of Bhutan (HAB) is honored to be part of a landmark meeting held on July 7, 2025, between the Office of the Cabinet Affairs and Strategic Coordination (OCASC) and the private sector at the BCCI Hall. The meeting focused on the “Proposal on Private Sector’s Engagement in the 13th Five-Year Plan,” which was submitted to the Prime Minister’s Office in April this year.
This proposal was a collaborative effort between HAB and BCCI, under the Voice for Green Change Partnership (V4GCP) project—funded by the European Union (EU) and coordinated by HAB in partnership with local and international CSOs.
Key highlights from the discussion:
- Streamlining business policies and regulations—already underway through the 2024 Business Regulatory Process Review.
- Public-private collaboration on key government projects—including infrastructure worth Nu. 86 billion!
- OCASC welcomes private sector engagement models grounded in profitability, sustainability, and clarity.
- This initiative marks the beginning of a long-term partnership between the government and private sector—setting a new precedent for future development plans.
- Private sector actors have been requested to refine and resubmit project proposals by August 2025—including engagement models, legal clarity, and identification of participating investors.
Let’s work together to build a green, inclusive, and resilient economy!
